After presenting we received feedback which left the whole group defeated and disheartened. The 60's themed idea was taken to as well as we'd hoped as they didn't understand the necessity of it. They also believed that the bright colours and all of these extra elements were making the exhibition a piece of art in itself. They felt that there was too much going on and it would draw too much attention away from the banknotes. Our choice of typeface came under fire as it was realised that it is the same typeface used for the Mexican world cup and that they couldn't see it's appropriateness within the design. They also were not a big fan on the post designs as they felt like there was too much going on and they needed stripping back big time, with one person commenting they liked some initial designs better. Having all of the props such as the tables and chairs, they strongly believed to be too expensive as well as being a waste of precious time.
It was suggested that we completely strip it back so that the emphasis is on the content of the exhibition rather than the branding. They wanted us to be more subtle with our designs and use them as a platform to present the banknotes on. They did however really see the potential in the vinyl window stickers and loved the new interesting way to get colour into the room. They particularly liked the design and said that this is something we should work with further. I was really proud because one of the other things that got pointed out as being good was the manifesto I had written for the start of the exhibition. They felt that it really helped set the scene and they were really excited to see what we produced, but felt that our designs didn't live up to it. One of the big things to take away was to reign in our ideas, and provide more consistency in design.
We have to do another presentation, so we will use this feedback to better help shape our designs.
