OUGD505 Studio Brief 02 - Stand Up To Racism (Research)

Stand Up To Racism (Research):

Stand Up To Racism - Charity / Protest Movement
Campaigning against the far right, especially the British National Party and English Defence League. They want to build a network of activists to support refugees and confront racism, islamophobia and antisemitism.

‘We are the majority and we will stand up to racism.’

There a number of local Stand Up To Racism groups around the country which hope to confront the rise of racism.

'On 19th March 2016 over 20,000 people from across Britain took to the streets in London, Glasgow and Cardiff to say Refugees are Welcome Here and mark UN anti-racism day. Students and trade unionists, people of all faiths and none, migrants, musicians, teachers, pensioners and parents, took to the streets to make a defiant stand against racism.

Together we showed unity in the face of racism. We will be back next year for another huge demonstration against all forms of racism. Unity is our strength so we cannot let racism divide us.'

Stand Up To Racism groups hold different events and public meetings were there are speakers and workshops tackling the rise of racism.

There are also student led groups in various locations.
