OUGD603 Brief 08: Development & Feedback

Development:
Using the mockup, I have applied a gradient background to cover the whole bottle. I have played around with different type placements to see which is the most appropriate.

Feedback:
I have showed my designs to quite a few of my peers and I have received some really good feedback but, people liked all different designs so it has been hard to make a decision which one is the better design.

Design 1
- Liked the placement of the 30 wrapping round the bottle uses more of the bottles surface area for the design, which can also be seen at different angles.
- Like how the placement is more dynamic - the eye looks from left to right.
- Text size could be bigger for the information
- SPF could be clearer
- Not completely sure about 'Vio' and '30' being at similar scale.
- Consider changing 'V' to lowercase
- Adjust placement of 'V' by eye so that it looks more in line with other text.
- More interesting layout
- Try putting type closer together
- Varying sizes
- Unique
- Appropriate
- Appealing

Design 2
- Separating the brand and the main information makes the important bits a lot clearer.
- Unsure whether it represents brand.
- Less overdone
- Unique
- Eye-catching
- Dart eyes - slower to read information

Design 3
- Clear, ordered information
- Central alignment over done
- Large SPF number works well - numbers would line up at the bottom.
- Easy to identify
- Clean

Design 4
- Clear information
- Overdone design - unaorginal
- Works effectively
- Looks like a suncream brand - easy to identify
- Hierarchy of information from lines

Overall people really liked the gradient as they felt it reflected the brand appropriately while still remaining gender neutral. It would also stand out against other brands while targeting the 18 - 25 demographic. It was also suggested to try experimenting with iconography to add a technical and scientific appearance e.g shield / sun rays.

Based on this feedback Im going to develop the 1st design as I feel that has the most potential, with a little bit of work it could be a really strong piece of design.
