OUGD603 Brief 04: Tin Design (Research)

Tin Design (Research):

I decided to look at what types of designs are currently used on tins, what finishes they use and what shape they are. I created a Pinterest board to help keep track of any visual inspiration.

Paulig Coffee

Piccadilly Biscuits

Poet Tea

Artea

Azafrán Coupé

Anthropologie

Nescafe

The Hampton

Fortnum and Mason

Harrods

Just T

Johan & Nyström Tea Packaging

Pekoe Tea

Murchie's

Shape:
Most of these tins for tea/coffee retain either a cylinder shape or a square tin design, there doesn't seem to be much variation in shape. I could try to be more experimental with that respect to set out different from the market.

Finishes:
- Embossing
- Debossing
- Exposed tin
- Metallic
- Pearlesant
- Engraved

Design:
Most tin designs have strong intricate illustration or have a strong pattern. This is probably to improve the reusability of the tin for different uses.
